Fort Leavenworth

Grant Hall, Building No. 52, is located in Fort Leavenworth Kansas. It was built in 1907 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Copper Work Included:

  • 145ft tall bell tower, fully occupied building during construction.
  • Removal of original wood and copper dome structure and ornaments from top masonry tower.
  • Provide temporary roof to tower during fabrication of new dome.
  • Built new wood dome structure to specifications. 8 sided dome is 18' tall with a 16' base.
  • Designed and installed a new 16 & 20 oz copper (crimped and pre-patinated) cladding to match the appearance of original structure.
  • Details of copper changed to meet current sheet metal standards.
  • New copper details designed to accommodate expansion and contraction without the use of sealants.
  • Repaired existing dome finial and patinated repairs to match existing aged finish.
  • Designed and fabricated 4 new copper lanterns to match existing appearance.
  • Finial and lanterns required new stainless steel armatures to be fabricated and installed.
  • Refurbishment of existing clock tower louvers.
  • Assisted Masonry/General contractor in the layout and design of new stone sill.
  • Design and implemented successful critical lift plan for removal and installation of dome and lanterns.
  • Coordinated with owner, architect and other trades to perform critical lifts on the weekends.
  • 100% Completion with Own Forces
